Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible is the divinely inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God given to man. The Holy Bible reveals the character and nature of God and provides man with a blueprint for living in relationship with God and others while inhabiting the earth. (II Timothy 3:16-17)

The Nature of God

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God is the creator, ruler and judge of all things past, present and future. (Genesis 1:1,26; Matthew 28.19; Colossians 1:16-17)

The Deity of Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. This includes: his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death by his shed blood on the cross, bodily resurrection and his ascension to the right hand of God the Father. (John 1:1-3, 14)

The Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but in an act of selfish disobedience, aspired to be like God and subsequently became less of himself. We believe that man is now spiritually dead or separated from God and is powerless to save himself. (Gen 1:26; 3; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:1)

The Redemption of Man

We believe that Jesus Christ freely sacrificed His life on the cross as an atonement for the sin of all mankind. Jesus Christ was the only one capable of paying the ransom and today serves as man's High Priest and Advocate. (John 3:16; Hebrews 4:14-15; I John 2:1-2)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by the unearned grace of God through faith in Christ's redemptive work. We believe that God alone makes salvation possible and those individuals who repent and put their faith in the redemptive work of Christ will be saved. True salvation can not be earned but is demonstrated through righteous works. (Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8; James 2: 14-26)

The Work of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts men of sin and brings new life to those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, enables the development of Godly character and conduct and seals believers until the final day of redemption. Furthermore, we believe in the subsequent Baptism of the Holy Spirit (with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues) which empowers believers for witnessing and for spirit-led service. (Luke 11:13; John 7:37-39; Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 10:44-46; Galatians 5:22-34; I Corinthians 12)

The Church

We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ and consist of all believers who by the drawing of the Holy Spirit have repented of their sin and put their faith in the redemptive work of Christ. We believe the church exist to introduce people to Jesus Christ, instruct them to grow in the faith, involve them with other Christians, include them in serving others and inspire them to worship God with their lives. (Matthew 16:18, 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:11-16; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 10:24-25)

The Ordinances of the Church

We believe the Holy Scriptures instructs the church to practice two ordinances. The first is baptism by immersion which symbolizes a believer's identity and association with Christ's death, burial and resurrection. The second ordinance is communion which commemorates the Lord's death until he returns. (Mathew 28: 18-20; Acts 8:35-38; I Corinthians 11:17-34)

Tithing and Giving

We believe that God is Lord of all including time, talent and treasure (money). We also believe that God instituted corporate worship and the corporate execution of His work on Earth. We believe the method God chose to adequately fund His work is the tithe (10% of one's income) and God clearly expresses that this portion belongs to Him. Jesus confirmed tithing as an important matter and we believe the blessing of tithing is still very real. In addition to tithing, we believe that the free will giving of offerings and alms are essential to caring for those in need. We believe that giving is a spiritual matter that is a necessary component of the believer's growth. (Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3: 7-10; Matthew 23:23; Luke 6:38; II Corinthians 9:6-9)

The Return of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and returned to the right hand of the Father. We also believe that Jesus will personally return to Earth and consummate the Kingdom of God and will restore everything to order as He originally intended and promised in the Holy Scriptures. (Matthew 24:42-44; Acts 1:6-11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelations 11:15; 21)
